City Journal Online is produced by RMIT journalism students each semester under the supervision of online journalism lecturer Renee Barnes.

It is run in conjunction with its sister-publication City Journal newspaper.

To develop the site, students in the 2008 Online Journalism Production class undertook a comprehensive analysis of other student and professional news sites. Their recommendations formed the basis of site’s design, content and multimedia.

Each semester undergraduate students in Online Journalism Theory and Practice; and Converged Newsroom and graduate students in Online Journalism will lead the site’s editorial direction. Students in Television Journalism and Advanced Television Journalism contribute their work for Channel 31 and students in Radio Journalism and Advanced Radio Journalism contribute their work for Melbourne community broadcaster Triple R to the City Journal Online.

All RMIT students are encouraged to submit, articles, photographs and multimedia for consideration.
