Thousands of Australians will take part in a community challenge this weekend to raise awareness of suicide prevention.

Fitness clubs all over Australia will have volunteers running on treadmills for 24 hours.

Clubs across Melbourne are taking part from as far away as Sunbury, Pakenham, Cheltenham and Coburg.

The challenge will begin at 6 o’clock on Friday night.

Suicide Prevention Australia CEO Sue Murray says the challenge will raise awareness and funds for services to help reduce suicide numbers in Australia.
