How sexy is your name?

It’s all in the name, according to WhatsYourPrice.com.

The dating website has more than 800,000 members worldwide, but is a twist on the tradition dating service: it works like an auction, where members bid with each other to take out other members on dates.

Recently, the website conducted a survey to find the sexiest male and female names of 2014.

Kirsten Johnson, the site’s public relations manager, said the results were collected using internal data.

“For the women, we saw how many of them were offered the most dates over a year, and with the men, it was how many dates they were accepted for,” she said.

“Technically it’s more of a ‘Who got the most dates’ list, but people see the word sexy and it automatically makes their head turn.”

A survey of the sexiest male names was conducted for the website’s most popular territories: Australia, Canada and the United States.

The top 10 sexiest female names survey was only conducted in Australia.

“We released the sexiest male names in those three regions, and heaps of people in Australia asked for a female list. I went back to my team and immediately started working on one.”

Surprisingly, the shorter and traditional names of ‘Eve’ and ‘Mark’ topped the list.

“Mark is a super popular name, it’s classic. That name was the top of the list for both Australia and the US. Those two territories really paralleled each other actually,” said Ms Johnson.

“It was either the names that were short and flirty, or they were traditional like Alice or Anna. Kate was on there, obviously inspired by Princess Kate, so there was really regal sounding names on the female side, too,” she said.

The list seemed to indicate a psychological attraction to shorter names.

“Subconsciously we like to give each other nicknames, so I think there’s definitely a response there,” said Ms Johnson.
