A Victorian teen is suing the Department of Education alleging he experienced emotional trauma caused by constant torment in his early years of secondary school.
Nathan Whitmore, who attended Somerville Secondary School, says constant homophobic harassment between 2013 and 2015 lead to anorexia, anxiety and attempted suicide.
He claims the school failed to provide adequate supervision or counseling to victims of bullying and is suing for an undisclosed sum.
A spokesperson for the Department of Education and Training has said the department cannot comment while the case is before the court.
