An Australian professor has been awarded a prestigious international human rights award for her work on issues related to refugees.
Professor Jane McAdam was the joint recipient of the $145,000 Calouste Gulbenkian Prize for her research on climate-change and its effect on forced-migration.
Professor McAdam says the money will be used to help support the Andrew and Renata Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law at the University of New South Wales.
The Kaldor Centre is dedicated to the study of international refugee law and Professor McAdam says she is particularly excited about an initiative to set up an Asia Pacific Research Group.
