Humane Research Australia is calling for an immediate ban on the use of animals for research purposes after the death of five monkeys at a Melbourne university.
Tara-Jade Amici reports.
“Five marmoset monkeys have died after invasive research undertaken at Monash University. The monkeys were anesthetized and probed in an experiment to asses their brains reaction to audio, before they were given a large dose of anesthetic and killed. Humane Research Australia’s chief executive, Helen Marston says an immediate ban should be enforced. “Oh It is absolutely essential that we ban this type of research. Not only for the sake of sparing animals from suffering but to get better medical progress for humans.” Ms Marston and the organization hope for an immediate ban. Tara-Jade Amici, City Journal news.”
