Afghan President Hamid Karzai says Afghan troops are on track to take control of Oruzgan province (where Australian soldiers are based) by the middle of the year.

For the first time in 2012 the Australian dollar falls below parity with the greenback, but currency analysts say the fall will benefit the economy.
