Student activists at RMIT say there was no need for police be called to “supervise” a rally about university funding cuts

The students,  protesting against Labor’s recently proposed $2.8 billion-dollar budget cuts for universities, were surrounded by more than 20 policemen.

Activist Danica Cheesley said it was disturbing how many officers attended the rally and questioned the priorities of the Victorian police in attending the event.
