Flaming Faces in Princes Park

Trees on the edge of Princes Park were transformed on Sunday April 15 with a sculptural installation by RMIT Public Art student Mishka Nansi.

With assistance from a group she calls “the Cry of Wolves”, Ms Nansi used wire, mesh, tape and fabric soaked in liquid Butane to attach emotive faces to trees in the park before setting them aflame at sunset.

Ms. Nansi said she was inspired by natural sculptors like Andy Goldsworthy to create the fleeting installation, entitled “Ephemeral Arborists”.

“The idea was to create a piece of work within nature that had an ephemeral quality about it,” she said.
