Labor’s candidate for Menzies, Ms Stella Yee, wants to “retire” conservative Liberal member Kevin Andrews.
Born in Malaysia, Ms Yee moved to Australia with her family in 2001. Moving to Doncaster in 2004, Ms Yee has become an active member of the community over the last 14 years.
Her past initiatives include volunteering at Vinnes Soup Van, talking to elderly Italians through CO.AS.IT and running an after-school Mandarin program at a local primary school.
Ms Yee is the Chair of the Bilingual Education Foundation Australia, a not-for-profit organisation she founded with the support of Lions Club, to promote the learning of languages in schools. From her own experience, Ms Yee knows that education transforms lives, and will work to ensure that all children have access to a world-class education.
Having lived in the U.S., Ms Yee understands and appreciates the critical role that Medicare plays in maintaining our collective well-being. She will work to ensure that Medicare provides everyone with access to the quality health care they need, when they need it.
