A night out in Melbourne

A recent report released from the National Drug Law Enforcement Research Fund has discovered major issues in the drinking culture in Melbourne. Considered one of the most comprehensive alcohol related survey of its time, the research was carried out by Monash University, which interviewed up to 7,000 Melbourne revelers or party goers. The results were damning, with the concept of preloading, binge drinking and recreational drug use all seen as regular elements of Melbourne nightlife. The City Journal spoke to Victorian Alcohol and Drugs Association chief Sam Biondi about the reports findings as well as Melbourne party goers about their of dinking in Melbourne. Pictures compiled for this report were taken in the survey’s major hot spots, King st, CBD, Chapel St Paharan and Swan St Richmond. Note that many of the faces in the pictures are deliberately blurred for privacy reasons.
