Who foots the same-sex marriage bill?

Written by Sabrina Woodward

Federal Labor has introduced a bill to parliament that aims to legalise same-sex marriage, vetoing the Coalition’s proposed plebiscite.

The legislation comes amid division in the government over whether to fund opposing campaigns for a national vote.

Greens MP Adam Bandt introduced a separate cross-bench bill to parliament, co-sponsored by independents Cathy McGowan and Andrew Wilkie.
