This Friday, Asher Wolf will be holding a special Q+A with students from RMIT’s Online Journalism course. Join us here from 10.30am (Melbourne time) as we liveblog and live-tweet the session.
The Guardian describes her as a “journalist, internaut, information activist and gonzo political theorist“.
As well as discussing issues around journalism and data in the digital age, she’ll go over the techniques she used to break some of the year’s biggest stories for the likes of The Guardian and the ABC. These stories included:
– an Immigration Department data lapse which meant the personal details of asylum seekers’ were available online;
– a former Sri Lankan military officer managing the Manus Island detention centre, where Tamils were being kept; and
– a former ALP politician’s presence at a deadly riot at the same detention centre.
Ms Wolf is also the founder of the CryptoParty.
