Fears Gonski cuts will hit universities in 2014

President of the National Union of Students, Jade Tyrrell, is worried the $2.8 billion Federal tertiary cuts will affect current and future university students from 2014.

“Federal education cuts from the Gillard Government starting in 2014 will take $2.8 billion dollars from university funding to help pay for the Gonski Education reforms. Unions are expressing their concerns for current and future tertiary students, and President of the National Union of Students, Jade Tyrrell, fears these cuts will only make it harder for students to achieve a university degree. “The quality of universities, is forced to slip, and if the funding does continue to be cut, it’s just going to be a really unfortunate outcome for these students as well as current students”.
