Jessica Gomes, an Australian model of Singaporean and Portuguese decent, has replaced supermodel Miranda Kerr as the newest David Jones Ambassador.
This decision followed a contract renewal meeting with Kerr, whose requirements exceeded the retail giant’s budget.
The Perth born Gomes has a relatively low profile entering this highly regarded position.
Gomes was thrilled to be part of this progressive step by the retail giant, tweeting to her fans: ‘Thank you for all your wishes! I am so excited, humbled and overjoyed with this news. It is a dream come true. Thank you for all the support!’

A David Jones employee working on the fashion floor at the David Jones store on Bourke Street thinks her company’s latest decision is ‘up and coming’.
‘It’s great’ she said. ‘Jessica is younger than Miranda and still already has that down to earth “girl next door” personality which made Miranda so popular.’
While some may question the decision of David Jones to enlist a low profile model as their ambassador, the employee spoke positively about their choice.
‘We’ve always had high profile models such as Miranda Kerr and Megan Gale. Their ambassadorship only boosted their careers so I hope it does the same for Jess.’
When speaking about Kerr’s departure, the Collette Dinnigan employee simply stated the facts.
‘It was purely about money. Everyone knows that department stores aren’t doing so well these days.’
A brands ambassador for Jo Malone, spoke highly of Jessica, describing her as ‘real, fun-loving and an example what the Australian girl is.’
David Jones’s latest acceptance of mixed race models is great, she said.
‘There should be more of it.’
